How to Drive Traffic to Your Blog/Website with Reddit

Reddit is a social bookmarking website and a kind of bulletin board system that can drive huge traffic to your blog/website,if used properly.

Here is a simple example to show the power of Reddit, Imran Uddin, founder of AllTechBuzz has stated that his blog AllTechBuzz has received 4.6 lakh pageviews for a single post in 2 weeks using Reddit. Here's the Screenshot below:

Just like Facebook and Twitter you can increase blog traffic using Reddit by following these simple steps.

How to Create an Account in Reddit?

For creating an account in Reddit, all you need to do is signup with any available username and password. You don't even need to provide your email id while signing up! Redditor's right to anonymity makes the discussions on reddit more honest and insightful.

Reddit accepts two types of submissions:
1. Link submissions (You can share the link of the article that you like)
2. Text Submissions (You can submit the article to the subreddit)

Just like Groups in Facebook, Reddit contains Subreddits. Each Subreddit has its own topic for example some of the subreddits that are existing are funny, pics, Android, News etc. Each Subreddit has some guidelines to be followed while posting the content,violating these guideline may result in the removal of your link from the subreddit. Every Subreddit has more than one moderators who actually monitor the subreddit regularly and keeps the subreddit free from spam.

MUST CHECK: Tips To Reduce your Blog Loading Time

Reddit Karma

Your Reddit Karma score signifies the amount of value you have added to the community. If your posts do well and receives more number of up votes it increases your karma points. The new Reddit accounts will contain 1 link karma and 0 comment karma.Once you start participating in the discussions and keep submitting high quality links, you can see increase in your karma score.

How to increase blog traffic using Reddit?

Here are some useful tips using which you can drive traffic to your blog/website using Reddit.

1. Quality Content

- Two things that Reddit do not encourage are, content being re-posted and submitting low quality content. So make sure that the links that your are submitting are of good quality so that users can up-vote your link and thereby you can increase you karma score.

- Posts with Deceiving Headlines will not fetch you good results in Reddit and may sometimes leads to blocking your account.

- Don't submit links from only your site, if you do that Reddit considers your account as a spam. One special feature of Reddit is that it fights spam using active accounts i.e. even though a user's account has been banned by Reddit, it still allows the user to log in with his credentials and the user can normally submit the links to Reddit but they won't add any value to the community.

Note: To check whether your account is existing or it's been banned by Reddit, once you log out from your Reddit account,Type in the following URL in the browser:
www.reddit.com/u/your_username
When you enter this URL, if you see a screen shot something like this, then your account has been banned by Reddit!

- Link submission is a great way to drive traffic to the blog but in case you want Reddit’s opinion on a certain topic, you can ask via submitting a text post.

2. Choose appropriate SubReddit

- Dont just submit your story or link to some random subreddit, it won't fetch you result.
- You need to do some research to choose a correct subreddit that can drive traffic to your blog/website.
- First, search for the subreddit that matches the content of your link. For example, if you have written an article that is related to Android Apps like How to block websites on Android, then you should search for subreddits related to Androidapps.

- Before posting or submitting the link, read the rules of the subreddiit carefully.
- Make sure that the subreddit that you choose to post the link, has good number of subscribers.
- Try to post the link to the selected subroutine at a time when you see maximum number of online members in that subreddit.
- Try to participate in the discussions and up-vote articles that were posted by others on that subreddit.

Here's the screenshot showing the engagement that we have received on one of our posts on Reddit.

If you will follow all the tips that are mentioned above, you can notice an increase in traffic to your blog/website.
Note: If you are already a reddit user, you might know that imgur links works great on Reddit. So, if you want to get more traffic from Reddit, upload any of the creative image to imgur and then share it on Reddit,it works great. Trust me!

If you face any difficulties in driving traffic to your blog/website using Reddit, you can leave your problem in the comments below or you can contact me.

5 Easy Ways to Build Quality Backlinks for Free

In previous posts we have discussed about the importance of keyword research, blog loading time, blog bounce rate in Blogging and SEO. In this post I would explain about Link Building (Backlinks) and some safe ways to build backlinks for your blog/website. Backlinks play an important role in SERP's. Quality backlinks from high page rank sites can increase organic traffic from search engines like Google,Yahoo, Bing to your blog/website.

Before proceeding further, let's understand what is a backlink and types of backlinks.

What is a Backlink?

Backlinks are the links that are present in other blogs/websites and they point to your blog. Advantage of getting backlinks is that, when Google detects your blog URL in some other website or blog, it will pass the juice to your blog (i.e link juice) and as a result your blog traffic increases.

Note:Not all backlinks will the pass the Link juice. To understand more about Backlinks read this post completely.

Types of Backlinks

1. Dofollow: These are the links that carry link juice to your blog/website.
2. Nofollow: These are the links that do not carry link juice to your blog/website, but it is recommended to get the nofollow links from high PR(Page rank) websites.

How to Identify Dofollow links and  Nofollow links?

It is very easy to know which backlink is dofollow and which is nofollow.All that you need to do is, download NoDoFollow (Firefox add-on). Once installation of this add-on is completed, go to any webpage, right click and then click on No-Follow, all the red color links are nofollow links and the blue color links are dofollow links.

If you use Google Chrome, then Download SEOQuake inspector, it serves the purpose.

How to get Quality Backlinks for your Blog?

Here are some methods that can provide high quality backlinks to your blog/website.

1. Guest Blogging.

Guest Blogging is the best and safe method to get backlinks to your blog.Find out the websites that provide guest posting opportunities, try to offer them a post and demand 1-2 backlinks from their website/blog.Added advantage with this method is that, you not only get the backlinks to your blog, but also you can create a blogging network with all the best bloggers in the world and can help out each other.

2. Links from Social Media.

You can create backlinks easily from social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc but all these links are nofollow links.Even though these links are nofollow, it is better to gain links from these sites as they pass on the traffic to your blog and you can reach out to large audience.

Note: You can get dofollow links from some Social Media sites like Google+, Tumblr, LinkedIn etc and the best part is, these links are useful to increase the of domain authority your blog.

3. Social Bookmarking sites.

Another method to get backlinks to your blog is by using Social Bookmarking sites. Whenever you bookmark your blog on these sites you'l get a backlink from these sites but they are not  of high quality.

Here are some popular bookmarking sites:
- wordpress.com
- typepad.com
- weebly.com
- tumblr.com
- jimdo.com
- squidoo.com
- yola.com
- slashdot.com
- edublogs.org
- tripod.com
You can find out more social bookmarking sites by Googling.

Note: Your Link building process should be natural and should be steady.One useful tip to all the bloggers is, do not bookmark your own content only,try to bookmark content from other sites as well so that the process of link building looks natural. Do not bookmark the same URL more than twice in the same day.

4. Blog Commenting.

Commenting on others website or blog can fetch you backlinks. Unfortunately most of the backlinks that you get by commenting are nofollow links, but backlinks from CommentLuv websites are dofollow backlinks. To keep the linkbuidling process to be natural, I would recommend you to build links in 7:3 ratio (i.e. 7 nofollow links and 3 dofollow links).

To find out dofollow blogs under your niche for commenting, you can use DropMyLink.com

5. Backlinks by Asking Questions and Answering.

You can get backlinks from high pr websites just by asking questions and answering the questions that you know.Yahoo Answers is the best example for this method. You can see a sample screenshot below.

How to Increase your Blog Traffic

Traffic is important for all blogs/websites and as I described in the previous post (about Keyword Research guide for bloggers), major source of traffic comes from search engines like Google. But what if you have just started the blog recently, posting good content and still not getting enough traffic? If any of you are facing this issue and looking for a solution to get traffic, then you are at the  right place.In this article, I'm gonna suggest you 8 tips that would boost/increase blog traffic.

How I Increased My Blog Traffic from 80 to 400 visitors in few days:

Many new bloggers started asking me how I increased the blog traffic within few days. To  answer all those people, I decided to write a post explaining, how I increased my blog traffic.

1. Content is King

As most of the bloggers say, Content is King. If you have good content then you'l  automatically get genuine traffic.There are many new bloggers who copy the content from other blogs/websites. Please don't do that, If Google detects any copied content on your website then it will penalize your blog. Instead of copying content, try to write  articles on your own (one article per day is sufficient if your blog is new) and once you  do it, Google will index all your pages and within few days you can see an increase in your blog traffic.

NOTE: Search Engines can index your blog pages only if you submit your blog to search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc

2. Social Media

Most of the newbies spend most of their time in searching about the softwares to increase traffic and for link building, but the real traffic source, next after the search engines is Social Media. You can drive huge amount of traffic from social media sites like Facebook, StumbleUpon, Reddit, Twitter etc. Initially I totally depended on Facebook and Reddit to drive traffic to my blog and later I researched about some SEO Techniques and I started applying them on my blog and it worked like a charm!

MUST CHECK: How to Increase blog traffic using Reddit

3. Building Backlinks

  • The best and most safe way to get backlinks is by guest posting
  • Find out the websites that provide guest posting opportunities, try to offer them a post and demand 1-2 backlinks from their website/blog.
  • If you are interested to offer a guest post on our blog then contact us.
  • Another safe way to build backlinks is by commenting on CommentLuv websites and get a  backlink from their website.

4. Submit your Blog to search Engines

Even though your blog is having good content, it would be of no use unless you submit your blog to search engines, so that web crawlers will visit your blog and index your  blog posts.

Note: It is better to submit your blog to search engines as soon as you create it.

5. Use Proper Keywords in your Post Title

Proper usage of keywords in your blog post can drive you huge amount of traffic. Keywords  can be identified by doing keyword research, if you want to know more about keyword research and how it is performed (with example), you can check here(Keyword Research Guide).

6. Enter Search Description

Search Description is nothing but the content in the meta tags. Web Crawlers use these  meta tags to identify the posts that are related to a query. However stuffing keywords in  the search description may not benefit you after the Panda and Penguin Updates.

7. Interlinking Blog Posts

The best way to make your visitor not to leave your blog is by Interlinking the blog  posts. Another benefit of interlinking blog posts it that, it reduces your blog bounce rate.

MUST CHECK: Reduce your Blog Bounce Rate with a simple Tweak!

8. Search Engine Optimization

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is always a good way to get traffic from search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo etc.
  • Our coming articles will be completely focused on SEO Tips and tricks that are helpful to all the bloggers.

Conclusion:

Keep updating your blog regularly because web crawlers (used by search engines) will visit those websites/blogs that are frequently updated(changed).I would suggest all the newbies to start off by writing one post a day. Try to make use of Facebook and StumbleUpon initially to get traffic to your blog until your blog posts are indexed by Google.If you have any issues you can contact me.

Ultimate Keyword Research Guide for Bloggers

With the increase in web usage and Internet connectivity, demand for blogging also increased. All the Bloggers and Webmasters want their blog to appear in the first page of Google Search results.With increasing demand for blogging, chances to appear top in search results decreases hence many bloggers try to apply Search Engine Optimization to their blog to get good results. One of the important steps in applying SEO to blog is Keyword Research. In this article, I'l show you how actually Keyword Research should be performed to get effective results.

What are Keywords?

All regular bloggers will definitely know what keywords are, but for people who don't know what keywords are.. here is the answer. Keywords are the words which are used by the people while searching in search engines like Google, Bing, DuckduckGo etc.Keywords play huge role in On page optimization.

Why Keywords are Important?

Search Engines like Google perform the search functions depending upon the matches occurred with the keywords entered by the user. However page rank, blog loading timeblog bounce rate and many other factors impact the results that are displayed for the user.

Keyword Research Tools

There are many keyword research tools available in the Internet but the best one is Google Keyword Planner tool which is a free tool provided by Google. This tool provides the number of searches done for a particular keyword in a month (globally and locally). Using this information you can estimate the amount of traffic you can bring to your blog/website from search engines.

Alternative Tools for Keyword Research (Other than Google Keyword Planner):
Note: I recommend you to use Google Keyword Planner because it is better when compared to other keyword research tools and even I'm using it.

How to do Keyword Research and Analysis?

Step 1: Go to Google Keyword Planner.
Step 2: Enter the Keyword that you wanted to know about (local and global searches)

For Example, If you want to check the number of searches for "Facebook Tricks" keyword.

Step 3: Enter the keyword and hit search. Once you hit the search button, you will get all the similar keywords and their local and global searches. The search is a broad search which includes keywords like "Facebook","facebook hacking tricks","facebook tricks and secrets","Cool Facebook Tricks" etc.

Note: You can check number of searches for a particular keyword within a specific country and desired language also.

Which Keyword should we choose?

- It is always better to choose keywords with low competition. Once you get the local and global searches of a keyword, Go to Google and check the results of the keywords in Google search results.

- If you find many popular blogs/websites with that selected keywords are ranking high in Google then it is better to avoid such type of keywords, if your blog is new or if your blog is not having much traffic from Google.

Where to use Keywords?

Some of the best places to use keywords are: In blog Post TitleIn post DescriptionIn URL, In Search Description , In Heading Tags.

Using Keywords in Blog Post Title:

The title of the post has huge impact on the traffic that you get. Include the Keywords in the title of the blog post.(Note: Do not stuff the keywords in the blog post, if you do so Google may identify your post as Spam and it may penalize your blog.)

Using Keywords in Blog Post:

Though blog post title is deciding factor to increase blog traffic, Content is also equally important so try to use as many keywords as possible in the blog post.In general the keyword density should not exceed 4% (i.e. up to 4% of the text content can be keywords, but don't stuff the keywords in the post meaninglessly because it may harm your site). To avoid harm from the recent Google  Updates, it is better to write the posts with 700-1000 words.

Using Keywords in URL:

We can create a Permalink while posting the article. It can be used only once (i.e. you cannot edit the permalink once it is created) so, try to fill the URL with keywords instead of prepositions and conjunctions.

Using Keywords in Search Description:

As all the search engines analyze the content of the meta tags(search description), it is better to include few keywords in the search description as well.

Using Keywords in Heading Tags:

It is better to use proper Keywords in heading tags (<H1>,<H2>,<H3>) in your post.

Conclusion:

Keyword Research plays an important role in Search Engine Ranking, but do not over use the keywords as it may harm your blog. Keywords should be included naturally while writing the blog post.I can assure you that with proper keyword usage and writing quality posts, you can increase your blog traffic easily!

Reduce Blog Bounce Rate Drastically with a simple Tweak!

Few days ago, I found an article which was incredible, the article was mainly focusing about reducing bounce rate of blogs.I decided to give it a shot and surprisingly my blogs bounce rate has dropped from 70% to 40% in few days. I think it is a huge boost to my blog.

What is Bounce rate?

Are you new to blogging? Don't know about bounce rate? Don't worry its very easy to understand. When a visitor lands on one of your blog post and if he/she exit from your blog without viewing any other post other than the landing page from your blog, it is known as a "bounce". The ratio or percentage of Total page views is to bounce views (views which are considered as bounces) is called as "Bounce Rate".

Blogs like this one have high bounce rates because many visitors lands on one of the post of this blog, reads it and ones they are done, they'l exit from the blog. But the fact is, "Lower the bounce rate, better it is for the blog!"

One must keep in mind that the blog's bounce rate is also dependent on blog's niche. Google has stated that currently they are not considering bounce rate as a factor of rankings but they might include it in the future to identify and filter good and trusted websites.

Tweak to Reduce Blog's Bounce Rate:

There are many ways to reduce bounce rates of blog like decreasing the reducing page loading time, inter linking blog posts etc. but, here i'm showing you a tweak to the Google Analytics code to reduce your blogs bounce rate dramatically.

Original Google Analytics Code looks like this:

If you have installed the Google Analytics code for tracking visitors of your blog, then your code should look something like this..
<script type="text/javascript">

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];
  _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-XXXXXXX-1']);
  _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

  (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
  })();

</script>

Modified Google Analytics Code:

Below is the tweaked code that would reduce blog bounce rate by 60 - 90%
<script type="text/javascript">

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];
  _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-XXXXXXX-1']);
  _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);

  setTimeout(function() {
    window.onscroll = function() {
      window.onscroll = null; // Only track the event once
      _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'scroll', 'read']);
    }
  }, 5000);

  (function() {
    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;
    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js';
    var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s);
  })();

</script>

Note: Just Change XXXXXX with your own Google Analytics ID that can be found in your original Tracking code.

Here's a screenshot of Analytics Report Before and After implementing the Tweak.

How the Original code works?

Original Google Analytics Tracking code, actually wait's until the second event is triggered by the user, that means unless a visitor clicks on any other page of your blog, the visit is considered as a bounce.

What have we done to the code?

We modified the code to reduce the bounce rate of blog. This tweaked code treats the page views as bounce only when a visitor leaves the blog/site within 5 first seconds. In the above code, we added a parameter to the code i.e. if a visitor scrolls down through the page then that visit is not considered as a bounce any more.

Conclusion

Google Analytics Official blog has stated that we can change the bounce rate of blog/website as required, so that we can analyze the performance of our blogs/sites. You can modify the above code by changing the delay time according to your own needs.

Tips to Reduce Your Blog Loading Time

I'm very excited to start writing articles related to Blogging.Today most of the bloggers face trouble because of their blogs/websites slow loading time, so I decided to write a useful article that would help all the bloggers to make most out of this post.

Bloggers and Webmasters mainly concentrate on providing useful information to their viewers with a good user experience. Just like Blog bounce rate, Blog loading time has a huge impact on search engine ranking. Before 2010, Google did not considered blog/website loading time as a factor in Page Rank Algorithm but, On April 9th 2010 Google included blog loading time as one of the factors determining the Page Rank of a website.

Matt Cutts said that though blog loading time may not be a heavy factor now, but it will play an important role in the future PR Updates.Blog loading time also shows its impact on blogs traffic as well.

How to Check Blog's Speed?

There are numerous tools available on Internet that do the job for you but, I recommend all the bloggers to use Google Speed Test Tool because it is the best amongst all and even I use the same.

  • Experienced Bloggers can use Web Page Test Tool (It is a bit advanced compared to Google Speed Test Tool).

Tips to Reduce Blog Loading Time:

1. Compress Images before Uploading:

This is a major factor that would increase the blog loading time. Many Bloggers(newbies) upload the images directly without compressing them, this may cause a severe harm to their blog. WordPress has some plugins like Smushit, that would compress the images when they are uploaded.There are no such plugins available for Blogspot blogs,hence they have to use third party services like Yahoo Smushit and Puny Pny.

2. Give Proper Dimensions and Resize the Images:

Once the images are compressed, you need to resize the image that would be suitable for the page layout. You can use Cropp.me to resize images online.

3. Minimize the use of Javascripts/Plugins/Flash:

Try to remove unwanted Javascripts and Plugins. This is the first message that would be shown in the Google Speed Test Tool, if your website/blog speed is slow.

4. Decrease the number of Social Share Buttons

As the Social share buttons are Javascripts managed by the third party service, they may take some to load thereby increasing your blog loading time. Try only to use Share buttons of Facebook, Twitter, StumbleUpon, Google+, Reddit because generally they are the major sources of web traffic.

5. Do not use  Images as Background's

Few Bloggers use large images as their blog's background. Actually they are doing a blunder, because a background image repeats itself in both directions there by slowing down 50% of blog loading time.

6. Limit the Number of Posts to 5 per Page

As the number of posts in a page increases, blog loading time also increases so try to display optimal number (i.e 5 posts would be better) per page.

7. Minimize Ads on the Blog page

Most of the Advertisement banners are coded in java script and as discussed java script would increase the loading time of blog. Use reliable Advertising Networks like Google Adsense,Yahoo & Bing Ads, Infolinks etc. Some Advertising networks like Adbrite,Technorati Media would give a good payout but has some effect on blog;s loading time.

8. Avoid Linking to Blog Directories

I would advise all the Bloggers not to link to Blog Directories because it would increase your blog loading time and also Google will penalize(ban) such blogs. (This was introduced in Google Panda & Penguin Updates).

Conclusion

As mentioned earlier, like blog's bounce rate, blog loading time does not have much significance in determining Page Rank as of now but, the future Page Rank Algorithm updates might use it as a significant attribute in determining the Blog's page rank and SEO as well.So, I would advise all the bloggers to take care of their blog's speed.

Feel free to discuss about the topic and to give your feedback in the comments below..:)
